Yard Waste Bags & Carts

Yard waste must be placed in a Yard Waste cart provided by SWS or in compostable bags or paper bags.

Beginning Jan 1, 2010 a new state law requires residents who bag their yard waste to use compostable or paper bags. Compostable bags include paper Kraft bags (large brown paper bags) or compostable "plastic" bags. Compostable plastic bags are usually clear or tinted an opaque shade of green, white or pink; however the color is not the sure way of determining the compostability of a plastic bag.

Compostable plastic bags should clearly state that they meet ASTM D6400 standards for composting and that they are "compostable". Bags marked "biodegradable" or "degradable" do not meet the state law. Most home improvement and hardware stores now stock there types of yard waste bags.

Yard waste service is available as scheduled weekly service or as on call pickup service.

Scheduled Weekly Service:

Yard waste season begins the second full week of April and ends the week of Thanksgiving.

Suburban Waste provides the option of a wheeled yard waste cart for customers enrolled in our seasonal yard waste program.

Yard Waste carts are similar to regular garbage carts and recycling carts except they are clearly marked for Yard Waste only.

Seasonal service is an optional additional service that is billed one time yearly.  Service is automatically scheduled for weekly collection.

To ensure prompt service, please have your Yard Waste cart at curbside by 6:30 a.m. on collection day.

Another option for yard waste removal is our On Call Pickup service with per bag or per bundle charges.

This service is provided on the same day as your regular trash removal.

Since we must schedule a yard waste truck to come to your address, 24-hour advance notice is required.
